Based in the Adult Social Care and Safeguarding Department (ASC & SG) reporting to the Deputy Principal Social worker and Assistant Service lead.

You will support work within the Workforce development team for Adult Social care to create and implement strategies to recruit, retain and develop the social care workforce including growing talent from within Staffordshire County Council.

You will practice in a strengths-based way, ensuring that people can access educational opportunities, post qualification training and continuous professional development (CPD), enabling them to realise their potential, meet their learning objectives and where relevant maintain their professional registration.

As a Consultant Social Worker, you will:

* work closely with the teams and support practice and development across the service.

* ensure that people have access to the right training and development.

* support those people completing their apprenticeships and help those interested in working towards this.

* assist in creating and developing the Adult Social work and Safeguarding education and development programmes as well as being part of implementing strategies to recruit, retain and develop the qualified social care workforce including growing talent from within Staffordshire County Council.

* Co-ordinating and commissioning of pre- and post-social work registration specialist education to support the ongoing learning for our social workers. Supporting workforce development approaches so that qualified social workers can evidence continuing professional development and meet Social Work England registration requirements.

* Assisting the Workforce Development Budget owner ensuring that all income and expenditure relating to social work education is accounted for and invested to best support ASC practitioners.

You will:

* be a qualified social worker.

* have significant experience in the field and experience of developing and delivering training.

* be motivated by the purpose of your role - to help and support others.

* a team player and able to flex to the needs of the team.

* be able to help mentor and coach other colleagues.

You'll have a proven track record of a person centred and asset focused outlook and you'll have high professional standards.
