We are looking for HGV Mechanic in Kidderminster, You will Require a City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair level 3 or equivalent qualification. and LGV Class C driving licence

Pay: £18.82 Per hour

Contract: Temporary 2 Months

Hours: 37 Hours per week, Monday - Friday

Start: ASAP

Generic Responsibilities:

-Duties related to the Operation of the Local Authority vehicle workshop and MOT centre

-Assist with the Allocation of work and administration of the vehicle workshop

-Provide Fleet vehicle and plant maintenance along with MOT & Taxi testing.

Purpose of the Role:

-Ensure Local Authority plant and fleet are serviced, maintained, and repaired to the highest of standards.

-To prioritize the work to meet the need of the service.

-Assist with allocation, Monitoring , recording , and auditing garage works, and keep up to date essential paperwork

-To liaise with the Fleet Officer when required.

-To undertake responsibility for the workshop in the absence of the Fleet Officer

-To carry out 6 weekly inspections, safety inspections, vehicle servicing and repairs as required.

-To prepare vehicles for Plating and Mot tests to the highest standards.

-To undertake MOT, Taxi inspections and staff car servicing as part of the garage income generation.

-To be available to support the fleet maintenance and service out of normal working hours when requested by the Fleet Officer.

Person Specifications:

Skills

Essential=

-Practical Mechanical understanding of the maintenance of HGV commercial vehicles, cars and plant

-To be able to prioritise work as required on a service need basis

-To be able to work in a methodical and efficient manner

-To be able to work under pressure, maintain a high standard of work and attitude

-The operation of computer-based software and IT auditing systems

-To be physically able to perform practical garage work

Desirable=

-The ability to operate a front loader

-The ability to operate a forklift truck

Knowledge

Essential=

-LGV inspection and testing standards and principles

-Fault diagnosis of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

-Commercial garage operations

-MOT legislation

Desirable=

-Light vehicle maintenance and repair

-Commercial Fleet operation and legislation

Experience

Essential=

-Minimum of 5 years of practical mechanical maintenance of HGV commercial vehicles

Desirable=

-Light vehicle service and repair

-Experience in maintaining waste vehicle and road sweepers

-Experience with the operation of garage management and ordering software Qualifications

Essential=

-City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair level 3 or equivalent qualification.

-LGV Class C driving licence

Desirable=

-Up to date MOT testers qualification

-Vehicle inspection accreditation

-Operators CPC qualification

-Assessment and writing Risk assessments
