New Product Introduction (NPI) Technical Support Engineer

Somerset (Commutable from Chard, Ilminster, Crewkerne and Axminster)

Our client has been established for almost a quarter of a century and is recognised as a UK Market leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke solutions for a diverse range of applications including hazardous environments, medical, robotics, tracking, automotive, mobility, marine and aerospace employing more than 50 people and supplying specifically to OEM companies. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive and practical New Product Introduction Technical Support Engineer to complement their committed and professional NPI team.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful New Product Introduction Technical Support Engineer candidate will join an integral team directly responsible for a range of activities that will include (but not be limited to):

Being the technical lead for all aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI)
Developing and operating a formal NPI process and recording system
Providing support in the technical development of custom product solutions within the technical team ensuring smooth and timely transfer of completed projects to manufacturing.
Providing pre-sales technical assistance for Electrical applications and formulating technical aspects of BOM's and assisting with production assembly instructions where required.
Inputting data to the company ERP system in support of the technical department
Liaising with Customers, suppliers and other internal departments as required
Assisting with authoring product specifications and instructions as well as with after- sales support services and providing technical assistance as required
Managing the preparation of technical reports in support of projects and to other departments as required, and representing the Technical team as required at Customer Meetings.
Operating as an integral part of the team gaining approvals and certification of new products
Guiding and ensuring compliance with relevant Electrical legislation (primarily Battery related) and advising on the integration of legislation within the company BMS
Developing and undertaking product tests and records as required
Identifying any HSE concerns and reporting to the SQM or H&S officer as necessary To be considered for this varied and challenging Chard based NPI technical support engineer opportunity working within a genuinely fantastic team in a niche sector environment, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be self-motivated and comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team with exceptional communication skills at all levels. Eager to learn and with the ability to understand and work with electronics associated with Battery Management Systems (eg BQ Studio), you will ideally have led or been part of an NPI team for products that have successfully been integrated into production or entered into the market place, with a solid understanding of current legislation and the effects it has on NPI.

You will be Degree qualified or above in a relevant electronic engineering discipline, with an understanding of Agile or Prince2 systems proving distinctly advantageous.
