Are you a skilled Science Technician looking for an exciting opportunity in Barnsley? Tradewind are a leading recruitment agency specalising in educational placements, and we are currently seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our partner secondary school in the Barnsley area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in science and laboratory work to make an immediate impact in a supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Preparation: Assist in the preparation of practical science lessons, ensuring all materials and equipment are ready for use.
Equipment Maintenance: Regularly maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring that all tools and apparatus are in excellent working condition.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations, including the correct storage and disposal of chemicals.
Support Teaching Staff: Work closely with science teachers to support the delivery of engaging and effective science lessons.
Inventory Management: Keep an accurate record of stock levels, ordering supplies as needed to maintain an efficient and well-resourced lab environment.
Student Assistance: Provide guidance and support to students during practical lessons, helping them to safely and effectively conduct experiments.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience: Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role within a school or educational setting is essential.
Qualifications: A background in science, ideally with a relevant qualification such as a degree in a scientific discipline or a BTEC in Applied Science.
Skills: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. A sound understanding of laboratory safety protocols is crucial.
Availability: Must be available to start immediately and commit to a full-time role.
