Our school offers a supportive environment that caters to a diverse group of students who face significant barriers to learning. As a 2-form entry school, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming atmosphere where every child feels valued and understood. Our pupils often come to us with feelings of rejection, failure, and disillusionment with the traditional school system. We believe in showing our pupils that we care—through personalised learning plans, a safe and supportive learning space, and a strong focus on their emotional health and wellbeing.
Our state-of-the-art facilities and well-resourced classrooms provide the perfect setting for delivering high-quality education and support. With a team of dedicated staff, we are committed to creating an environment where students feel empowered to overcome their challenges and succeed academically and personally.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in SEMH needs, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' emotional and educational development. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement individualized learning plans, provide one-on-one support during lessons, and assist with interventions designed to improve students' social and emotional wellbeing. Your positive attitude and unwavering commitment to student success will help create a stable and encouraging learning environment.
Application Requirements:
• Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential. Experience in a primary school setting, particularly in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, is highly desirable.
• Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or childcare is preferred but not mandatory. We value experience and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children above all else.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Commitment: A dedicated individual who is ready to contribute to the holistic development of our pupils and work collaboratively with our team to provide the best possible support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
• Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
• Support the class teacher in managing behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
• Participate in interventions aimed at improving students' social, emotional, and mental health.
Perks and Benefits:
As part of our team, you'll enjoy access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities, a supportive environment where your contributions are valued and your wellbeing is prioritised, and the chance to work alongside a collaborative team of like-minded professionals passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. You'll also benefit from our well-resourced school with modern facilities that enhance both the learning and working environment, all within a convenient Islington location with excellent transport links and a vibrant local community.
