THE ROLE
Sustainability Consultant (Assistant Manager) - UK
Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Consultant to join our team and assist organisations in integrating sustainability principles into their operations, strategies, and reporting. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a passion for sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and a desire to grow their expertise in sustainability consulting. The consultant will support projects across a range of industries, helping clients address environmental challenges, enhance social responsibility, and meet compliance and sustainability goals.
Service Delivery:
- Sustainability Assessment and Strategy Support:
Assist in conducting sustainability assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting the development of tailored sustainability strategies for clients.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
Gather and analyse environmental, social, and governance data, including carbon footprints, waste metrics, and social impact indicators, to support client reporting and strategy development.
- Regulatory and Standards Compliance:
Provide support in ensuring client compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards, such as ESG reporting requirements e.g. carbon emissions
- Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare sustainability reports, presentations, and case studies that communicate progress, performance metrics, and actionable recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
- Research and Benchmarking:
Conduct research on sustainability trends, industry benchmarks, and emerging technologies to provide insights and best practices to clients.
- Client Engagement:
Work collaboratively with clients to understand their sustainability challenges and supporting our team to deliver AAB's services.
- Project Coordination:
Support project planning, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Experience and Attributes required for the role:
- Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Social Science, Business Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g. IEMA) are an advantage
- Recent career experience in sustainability consulting, or a related field.
- Good working knowledge of sustainability principles, ESG frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g. GHG Protocol, UN SDGs, or GRI).
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel or sustainability software (e.g., carbon accounting platforms).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presentations.
