The Role

As an Assistant Hire Desk Controller, you'll be supporting the day-to-day operations of the hire desk, helping to manage equipment hire requests and ensuring top-notch service is delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing incoming hire enquiries via phone and email
  • Support the Hire Desk Controller in scheduling deliveries and collections
  • Help maintain accurate records of equipment hire and availability
  • Liaise with internal teams, including transport and yard staff
  • Help resolve customer queries and ensure excellent service is provided
  • Perform general administrative duties related to hire operations
  • Monitor stock levels and flag any shortages to the team

  • Previous admin or customer service experience (hire desk experience is a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Confident communicator with a polite and professional manner
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Eagerness to develop skills in the hire/construction industry
  • A positive, can-do attitude and team spirit
  • Must be able to effectively plan and coordinate vehicle routes, ensuring timely deliveries and collections while considering traffic, road conditions, and client requirements
