We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our clients finance team at a leading retail FMCG business in Luton. The successful candidate will support the finance department in various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Description

Accounts Assistant

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

-Process invoices, expense claims, and payment runs

- Reconcile supplier statements and handle discrepancies.

- Raise sales invoices and credit notes, ensuring timely receipt of payments.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and supplier accounts.

  • Bank Reconciliations:

- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.

-Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.

  • General Ledger:

- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring all accounts are correctly coded.

- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and prepayments.

  • Reporting:

- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly management accounts and variance analysis.

- Contribute to budget preparation and forecasting activities.

Profile

  • AAT qualification or working towards it (or equivalent).
  • Relevant accounting coursework or degree is desirable.
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within the retail or FMCG sector.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP) and strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
