We are seeking to enhance our Highways Service by appointing a dedicated Integrated Transport Manager within the Traffic Management Service. This is an exciting time to join the Highways Service, and if you're eager to contribute to making this area a great place to live and work, we want to hear from you.

You will collaborate with the Head of Traffic Management to support the delivery of the Highways Service and manage the Integrated Transport Team. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing a team that delivers traffic improvement and road safety schemes. On a daily basis, you will drive key improvements through policy development, implementation of traffic calming, accessibility, and road safety schemes, and their associated traffic regulation orders. Additionally, you will assess the impact of traffic on the network using a data-driven approach.

Your team will be responsible for investigating requests for new highway infrastructure such as traffic signs and road markings, traffic calming measures, pedestrian crossings, new footways, and other low-cost highway improvements. You will also assist the Highways PMO team in developing the annual program and a long-term strategy for scheme delivery.

The role involves close collaboration with Senior Officers, elected members, and other teams to ensure that network management and improvements align with council priorities and policy documents.

To succeed as an Integrated Transport Manager, you should have experience in a similar role, preferably with a traffic engineering or management background. You should be organized and possess significant in-depth knowledge of highway and traffic legislation and regulations, including the Highways Act, the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, and the Traffic Management Act. You should be able to analyze statistical data, write policy and strategy documents, and handle tasks in a complex environment. Your expertise, confidence, strong communication skills, and organized, team-focused approach will be essential in this role
