The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced associate to join our project finance team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile and complex projects in various sectors, in multiple jurisdictions across the developed and emerging markets.
You will be involved in a wide range of project finance matters, across the sectors including mining and digital infrastructure. You will work closely with senior partners and associates, gaining exposure to cutting-edge legal and commercial issues across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Advising clients on the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of project financing arrangements, including limited recourse and non-recourse financing.
- Acting on a range of energy, infrastructure, and natural resources projects, including those in the mining and digital infrastructure sectors.
- Providing guidance on the regulatory, contractual, and risk management aspects of project financing.
- Collaborating with other practice areas such as corporate, real estate, and tax to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
- Developing relationships with clients, both domestic and international, and playing a role in business development efforts.
- Assisting with mentoring and supervising junior associates and trainees, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
Key Skills and Experience
- 5-8 years’ PQE in project finance, ideally gained at a leading international law firm or a top-tier boutique with a strong focus on energy, infrastructure, and natural resources projects, and with exposure to emerging markets.
- Strong technical expertise in structuring and negotiating project finance transactions, particularly in sectors such as mining and digital infrastructure.
- Demonstrable experience in cross-border transactions and working with multinational teams.
- Solid understanding of the key legal and commercial aspects of project finance, including the interaction of finance documents, project documents, and regulatory issues.
- A proven ability to manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic approach to solving complex legal issues.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to developing and sharing technical expertise.
- An excellent academic background.
