Vetro Education are seeking to recruit experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in a Further Education College in Cardiff. The College supports learners between the ages of 14 and 16 and as a result Vetro Education are looking for Learning Support Assistants in or around Cardiff who are experienced in these roles.
The College is set up to assist 14 to 16 year olds who have trouble engaging in a mainstream school environment. As well as core subjects, Maths, Science and English the learners take part in vocational subjects, Automotive, Hair and Beauty, Catering, Public Services etc. A number of the learners struggle with social and emotional mental health issues and/or challenging behaviour. Many also have engagement issues when taking part in core subjects.

- Pay: £12.80 to £13.90 per hour

- Hours: Long Term roles - 9am-3pm Monday to Friday

The role: What you'll be doing as a Learning Support Assistant
- Supporting and supervising both core and vocational subjects
- Assisting learners stay on task and understand lessons
- Work in partnership with other members of Teaching/Support staff
- Working with learners in small groups/ and or working 1:1 with learners with additional needs
- Support the class tutor in the delivery of the lessons
- Assist learners at break time and lunch time where needed
- Engage learners in the classroom and out of classroom activities
- Work in accordance to the College's behaviour management policies
The candidate: What you'll need to be successful as a Learning Support Assistant
- At least 3 months experience of working with learners in School or College settings - experience within an ALN setting would be beneficial
- Registration with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
- References covering the last two years (no gaps)
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
