About the Role:

Ackerman Pierce is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Team Manager to join the Safeguarding Team at Tameside Council. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in the community by providing leadership and support to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Team Manager in the day-to-day management and supervision of the Safeguarding Team.
Provide leadership and guidance to social workers, ensuring high standards of practice are maintained.
Manage a complex caseload, including high-risk and sensitive cases.
Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and review of cases, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings, including case conferences, strategy meetings, and core group meetings.
Support and mentor social workers, including those undertaking ASYE, through regular supervision and professional development.
Ensure timely and effective responses to safeguarding concerns and promote best practices in child protection.
Conduct audits and reviews of casework to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records in accordance with legal and policy requirements.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure a holistic approach to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work or equivalent.
Registered with Social Work England.
Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding.
Proven ability to manage and lead a team within a child protection context.
Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
