About the Role
Smart Education is seeking a dedicated Vocational & Life Skills Practitioner to support young people aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a specialist education setting.
This role focuses on delivering tailored vocational and life skills sessions in a small-group environment, helping students build independence, confidence, and essential life skills. The setting provides a nurturing, home-like atmosphere, allowing practitioners to create a safe and engaging learning experience.

Key Responsibilities
•    Deliver structured vocational and life skills sessions to students with ASC.
•    Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional and educational development.
•    Plan and implement creative, individualised learning programs in line with student targets.
•    Promote independence, resilience, and confidence in students.
•    Work collaboratively with staff, external professionals, and families to support student progress.
•    Maintain a safe and structured learning environment, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health & safety policies.

Essential Attributes
•    Resilience, confidence, and calmness under pressure.
•    Ability to build rapport quickly with students and staff.
•    A creative and proactive approach to engaging learners.
•    Passion for supporting young people with ASC and promoting life skills development.

Essential Skills & Experience
•    Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition.
•    Ability to deliver ICT & Computing lessons to students of varying abilities.
•    Strong understanding of Autism, ideally with a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification.
•    Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and behaviour management strategies.
•    Familiarity with both formative and summative assessment methods.

Desirable Skills & Experience
•    HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
•    First Aid training.
•    Experience working in alternative or specialist education settings.
•    A background in supporting young people who are disengaged from education.
