We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school in Doncaster from September 2024. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Job Role and Responsibilities

* Support Learning: Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher and SEND coordinator.
* Individualized Attention: Work with individual children and small groups to ensure they reach their full potential, providing tailored support to meet their specific needs.
* Classroom Assistance: Help prepare and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment for learning.
* Behavior Management: Support the management of pupil behavior, encouraging and promoting positive behaviors.
* Communication: Liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and a consistent approach to each child's development.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and any issues that arise, contributing to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).

Skills and Experience Required

* Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEND is essential.
* Knowledge: A good understanding of various special educational needs and strategies to support them.
* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education or child care are advantageous but not essential if the candidate has substantial experience.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
* Patience and Empathy: A caring and patient demeanor, with the ability to build positive relationships with children.
* Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, showing flexibility and a willingness to adapt.
* Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
