Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a Director to join their Manchester based QS team.

Job Title: Director

Reporting to: SBU Director

Direct Reports: Responsible for key SBU colleagues. DRs may include Associate Directors & Senior Professionals as per SBU org structure.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Director is responsible for helping the overall SBU Director with the strategic delivery of the Manchester QS business plan, winning and delivering work and achieving profitability for the SBU. To achieve the sector plan, the Director will be responsible for winning and delivering work via the co-ordination of company resources and wider company capability. The role holder must liaise with the SBU Director to map the market and execute client development strategies. They will also support the SBU Director in identifying, winning and retaining clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities;

Commercial

* Responsible for assisting the SBU Director with the formation and production of the SBU business plan

* Responsible for delivering the SBU level business plan

* Work with marketing to ensure support is provided to achieve goals

* Ensure bids submitted reflect client requirements and are prepared and submitted in compliance with procedures and incorporate legal and commercial reviews as appropriate

* Develop new client opportunities by supporting central bid team activity

* Assist in the preparation of sector and pre-quals, bids and tenders as required

* Develop existing client relationships and additional opportunities through delivery of high-quality projects

* Introduction to existing personal contacts

* Maintain and develop good working relationships with clients

* Develop new client opportunities by supporting interdisciplinary bid opportunities

* Develop new client opportunities through personal networking

* Cross sell other services to existing clients

Operational

* Management of project delivery activities with clients

* Represent all SBUs with clients, on interdisciplinary projects

* Responsible for obtaining ASQ from clients on a regular basis

* Responsible for monitoring and managing scope changes with clients

* Monitor project profitability and discuss with SBU Director

* Develop strategies for increasing project profitability through scope management/additional fees and resource allocation

* Manage debt recovery on projects when acting as project leader

* Manage debt recovery across disciplines for all client projects when acting as client manager

Leadership

* Responsible for team resource utilisation, development, and training

* Carry out regular performance review for direct reports

* Produce and monitor development plans for direct reports

* Identification of high potential team members

* Conduct market test salary reviews

* Conduct performance related bonus reviews

* Ensure Department's compliance with Company Policies and Procedures and all relevant Standards

* Develop and maintain departmental systems and procedure

* Promote close working across the group

SBU and Role Specific Requirements

Qualifications - MRICS or Fellow of RICS

Experience:

15-20 years plus

Majority of experience in surveying offices, retail, manufacturing, government and warehousing buildings rather than residential

Ideally, previous experience of a professional surveying consultancy
