Overview: We are seeking an experienced Finishing Engineer with a strong background in the marine industry. The role is predominantly focused on electrical work (80%) with a mechanical component (20%). The successful candidate will play a critical role in the final stages of production, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:

Electrical Tasks (80%):
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components on marine vessels.
Perform electrical testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Ensure proper functioning of all electrical systems, including lighting, navigation, and communication equipment.
Mechanical Tasks (20%):
Assist in the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough inspections and testing of completed work to ensure it meets specifications and safety standards.
Document and report any discrepancies or issues encountered during the finishing process.
Implement corrective actions to address any identified problems.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members as needed.Qualifications:

Proven experience in the marine industry, specifically in a finishing engineer role.
Strong electrical engineering background with relevant certifications.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Basic mechanical engineering skills and knowledge.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills.
Must have own tools required for the job.Additional Information:

The position is based in Peterborough, and the candidate must be able to commute to the site as needed.
This is a contract position, and candidates must operate as a limited company contractor.
