Assistant Transport Manager

Our client is a major FMCG distributor in the UK. We are delighted to assist them in their search for a CPC qualified Assistant Transport Manager at their site in Lutterworth.

Note that this is a smaller operation that is continuing to grow so is ideal for a candidate who is still on their transport career journey.

Reporting in to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the busy Transport operation , the site operates on a multi-drop basis & single drop basis to RDCs around the region.

SUMMARY:

Day-to-day transport operation in a cost-effective manner making & adapting to daily plans when required.

Vehicle compliance

Security

Manage resources

Ensure that all customer KPI's and operational deadlines are exceeded.

Assist in the creation of weekly P & L accounts.

Work closely with 3PL clients

Manage health and safety regulations, accident and incident management and reporting, including investigation.

Manage individual's performance and attendance.

Recruit, train, motivate the transport team

Manage and supply Drivers CPC training.

Staff disciplinary and grievance procedures

Report potential quality issues, including hygiene, security and damage issues and resolving them effectively.

Rotate with team to provide out of hours cover.

Experience needed:

CPC qualified Transport experience

PC / transport planning Literate.

In depth knowledge of transport operations.

Up to date knowledge of commercial vehicle related legislation.

H&S training and qualification.

Budgetary experience.

KPI production and management.

Proven experience in building effective teams.
