Are you a proactive and results-driven sales professional with experience in the construction industry? We are seeking an ambitious Area Manager to help drive the growth of our flat roofing solutions business. In this key role, you will be responsible for generating specification and project opportunities within your designated area, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues, and achieving sales targets to contribute to the success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development: Generate and pursue specification and project opportunities through your existing and new client base. Maximise sales potential by identifying and engaging with prospective clients within your geographical area.

Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with clients and contractors. Understand their needs and objectives to provide solutions that exceed expectations.

Sales Strategy: Work with your manager to develop and execute a business strategy for your area. Ensure regular activity reports and feedback are provided to maximise productivity and meet targets.

Networking & CPD Delivery: Identify new clients and build strategies to develop business opportunities, including arranging and delivering CPD seminars to educate and inform potential clients.

Project Ownership: Take responsibility for managing projects from concept to completion, ensuring each project is tracked throughout the design and procurement stages to maximise conversion and success.

Market Research: Stay ahead of industry trends and market developments in your area. Proactively identify new market sector opportunities and clients to drive growth.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to deliver seamless project execution, from the initial inquiry to final delivery, ensuring all technical specifications and reports meet the highest standards.

What We're Looking For:

Qualifications: A relevant degree or professional qualification (desirable). Membership in the Institute of Roofing is a plus.

Experience:

Strong background in specification sales within the construction industry or a related sector.

Proven experience in managing client and contractor relationships, with a focus on flat roofing systems and waterproofing.

Experience in developing detailed written specifications, condition reports, and technical documents.

Comfortable working towards and achieving sales targets, with a demonstrated ability to close deals.

Experience in delivering presentations and engaging with clients at all levels.

Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and take ownership of your projects.

Experience with cold calling and new business development.

Knowledge & Expertise:

Solid understanding of flat roofing systems, building regulations, and the British Standard Code of Practice.

Knowledge of both public and private sector requirements, including regulatory frameworks.

Familiarity with emerging trends in roofing, building practices, and industry guidelines, including NFRC developments

Skills & Abilities:

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to absorb, interpret, and apply complex information.

Self-motivated with excellent time management, organisation, and planning skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build trust and influence clients.

Creative and innovative thinking to meet business needs and overcome challenges.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present and negotiate effectively.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain high standards under pressure.
