Akton are working with a Local Authority in London who is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join their team as an Interim Head of Maintenance and Repairs. This pivotal role involves managing and transforming their repairs service to ensure efficient and effective delivery of maintenance operations across the authority's housing stock.

Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership and Management: Oversee the overall responsibility for Responsive Repairs, Voids, Disrepair, Complex Repairs, Damp and Mould, and Depot management. Lead a dedicated team of maintenance professionals, ensuring high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
* Service Transformation: Drive the transformation of the repairs service to enhance efficiency, improve resident experience, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
* Budget Management: Manage all related budgetary expenditure, ensuring financial efficiency and value for money. Develop and monitor budgets, financial plans, and forecasts, ensuring effective resource allocation.
* Performance Monitoring: Implement and maintain robust performance monitoring systems to track and report on the effectiveness of maintenance and repair operations. Ensure continuous improvement through data-driven insights and feedback.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including residents, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure collaborative working relationships and the achievement of shared goals.
* Compliance and Standards: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards. Develop and implement policies and procedures to uphold these standards.
* Issue Resolution: Address complex repair issues, manage disrepair claims, and oversee the resolution of damp and mould cases, ensuring timely and effective solutions.

Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience in a senior management role within maintenance and repairs, preferably within a local authority or housing association.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
* In-depth knowledge of responsive repairs, voids management, disrepair, complex repairs, damp and mould issues, and depot operations.
* Demonstrated experience in service transformation and process improvement.
* Excellent budget management and financial planning skills.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex issues effectively
