Position Summary
As a Business Development Manager, you will focus on creating new business opportunities in the UK, meeting sales and margin targets. Your role involves prospecting new B2B customers, primarily OEMs and distribution clients, and building long-term relationships. You will collaborate closely with Application Engineers, Key Account Managers, Marketing, Inside Sales, and Customer Services to deliver tailored solutions to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in outbound calls, emails, and social media prospecting to identify new customers using market intelligence.
- Develop trust and provide insights into customer needs, communicating value-added propositions effectively.
- Qualify and follow up on inbound leads from Inside Sales and Marketing initiatives.
- Create and maintain solid key account plans to drive both short-term and long-term sales.
- Maintain detailed records in Salesforce CRM, including extensive notes and analysis.
- Close deals within pre-established negotiation terms, balancing margin, price, and revenue targets.
- Identify upselling opportunities through whitespace analysis, new product launches, or product range extensions.
- Ensure high levels of customer loyalty and satisfaction.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Commercial and prospecting mindset with a strong result-driven approach.
- Educational background (commercial or technical) at a medium vocational level or higher.
- Experience with B2B sales, distribution, and OEMs in an international trade environment.
- Strong affinity for technical products and willingness to learn through product training.
- Excellent listening, time management, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable liaising with individuals from diverse levels and backgrounds.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, especially Salesforce, is an advantage.
