Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate care and support to youth residing in a residential setting.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the residents.
- Assist in the implementation of individualized care plans, including goal setting and skill-building activities.
- Engage and encourage residents in educational, recreational, and life skills development programs.
- Establish positive and supportive relationships with the youth and their families, actively involving them in the care process.
- Administer medication, as required, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess and address the needs of each resident.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations and ensure the safety and security of the residents.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor, promoting independence and empowering youth to reach their full potential.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with youth in a residential or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs and challenges faced by young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with youth.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
- Flexibility to work sleep-in shifts and occasional night shifts.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach in dealing with challenging situations.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in youth care.
