A well-established secondary school in London is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead its thriving department. The successful candidate will be a specialist in either French or Spanish, with a strong track record of high-quality teaching and leadership.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

* Lead and manage the MFL department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.

* Teach either French or Spanish across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

* Oversee curriculum planning, assessments, and student progress.

* Support and mentor MFL teachers, driving professional development.

* Foster a culture of high expectations and student achievement.

* Lead extracurricular activities such as language clubs, international trips, and cultural events.

* Work closely with senior leadership to enhance language learning across the school.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

* Be a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with a specialism in either French or Spanish.

* Have experience teaching their language up to A-Level.

* Have previous experience in a leadership or management role (e.g., Second in Department, Head of Key Stage, or Lead Teacher).

* Be confident in curriculum design, assessment, and data analysis to improve student outcomes.

* Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to support a team.

* Be committed to promoting language learning and cultural awareness.
