Overview:
An established earthworks division with a £5 million turnover is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Groundworks. This is a pivotal role for an individual with a proven track record in the construction and civil engineering industry who can drive operational efficiency, improve utilization, and ensure profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all aspects of the groundworks division, ensuring optimal project delivery and operational efficiency.

Drive business performance to achieve near 100% utilization of resources and workforce.

Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and execution to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.

Ensure efficient and cost-effective muckshifts by leveraging industry connections and negotiation skills.

Identify and implement operational improvements to streamline workflows and enhance profitability.

Work closely with site teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.

Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Mentor and develop the team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements:

Proven leadership experience in the earthworks or civil engineering sector.

Strong industry connections to facilitate smooth muckshifts and procurement of materials.

Hands-on approach with the ability to get involved at all levels of operations.

Commercial acumen with experience in managing budgets, contracts, and operational targets.

Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Track record of successfully driving operational turnaround and increasing efficiency.
