We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Chief Pharmacist-Cancer Services to join our Pharmacy department at The London Clinic, based at our main hospital site in London (W1G 6JA). We are offering a competitive salary range (Band 8b NHS equivalent) starting from £70,000 per annum dependant on experience.

Job Profile

This post will act as the Cancer Services lead for the London Clinic pharmacy and manage clinical pharmacy services to all cancer areas.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

  • Shift Pattern: Monday to ; 9am-5.30pm

  • Job Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations).

  • Salary: Band 8a NHS equivalent

Key Duties

  • Plan, deliver and coordinate a programme of continuous service improvements and audits relating to medicines optimisation across all cancer services
  • Work closely with other lead pharmacists to provide clinical pharmacy services to cancer wards areas in a consistent manner.
  • Share the management of the rotational clinical pharmacists at the Duchess of Devonshire Wing of The London Clinic.
  • Plan, develop, deliver and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective, timely and patient focused specialist clinical pharmacy and technical services.
  • Develop and monitor medicines management systems to facilitate safe and effective patient focused care.
  • Provide specialist pharmacist expertise at super user level to the electronic prescribing system.
  • Promote the rational use of drugs within the Clinic especially in reference to high value drugs and the Duchess of Devonshire Wing.
  • Ensure Pharmacy services and associated training for pharmacists comply with JACIE standards
  • Be named as the Accountable Pharmacist for the technical service of the Pharmacy aseptic unit
  • Act as the Lead Intrathecal Pharmacist
  • Management of the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Manager

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience in clinical hospital pharmacy
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in haematology/oncology services
  • Leadership and supervisory experience
  • Effective multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of electronic prescribing
  • Experience of aseptic manufacturing and GMP
