Teaching Assistant

Location: Primary School in Lewisham
Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for a Year 5 Child with Dyslexia)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Contract: Until July 2025 (potentially continue into Sept 25 pending funding)
Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you passionate about making a difference in a child's educational journey? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 5 pupil with dyslexia. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and vibrant primary school located in Lewisham.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 student with dyslexia, helping them with reading, writing and other areas of learning as needed.
Use dyslexia- friendly strategies and resources to support literacy skills, such as phonics programs, visual aids, and multi sensory techniques
Adapt and modify learning materials to suit the child's individual learning needs
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement effective learning strategies.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Teaching Assistant Qualifications and Experience:

Experience working with childrenin a Primary and/or SEN Unit
Understanding of dyslexia and strategies to support children with specific learning difficulties.

Ideal Teaching Assistant will:

Be empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
Be proactive and adaptable in meeting the child's evolving needs as a Teaching Assistant
