Position Summary

The Crude Trading Analyst will support the crude oil trading team by providing comprehensive market analysis, developing trading strategies, and managing data related to the crude oil markets. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Analysis:

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of crude oil markets, including supply and demand factors, geopolitical developments, and price movements.
    • Develop and maintain models to forecast market trends and support trading decisions.
    • Monitor market news, trends, and data to identify trading opportunities and risks.
  • Data Management:

    • Gather, organize, and analyze large datasets related to crude oil markets.
    • Develop and maintain databases and analytical tools to support trading activities.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all analysis and reporting.
  • Trading Support:

    • Assist traders in the execution of trades by providing timely market insights and analysis.
    • Monitor and report on trading positions, P&L, and market exposure.
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly market reports for the trading team and senior management.
  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and assess risks associated with trading activities.
    • Support the implementation of risk management strategies and ensure compliance with risk policies.
    • Monitor market exposure and help develop strategies to manage and mitigate risks.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with traders, risk managers, and other analysts to support trading activities.
    • Communicate market insights and analysis to the trading team and senior management.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategy discussions.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MSc) is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a trading analyst role, preferably within the energy or commodities trading industry.
    • Strong understanding of crude oil markets, including market dynamics, trading instruments, and regulatory environment.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
    • Strong proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools such as Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
