Company: REED

Job Type: Temporary, FullTime

Salary: £17.11 per hour, Inc benefits

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Control Centre Support Officer for Greater Manchester. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 1 - 2 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Transport for Greater Manchester are looking for a Control Centre Support Officer to deliver a multi modal operational response. Manage operations of TfGM transport network and assets. Lead on incident and event management, to deliver an effective and cohesive organisational response across the GM transport network.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Monitor live transport activity using specific individual mode monitoring systems and data sources.
  • Provide basic interventions, in a timely manner, to support transport network performance across all modes.
  • Maintain records of data/information incoming via a logging system.
  • Monitor TfGM and partner CCTV for network monitoring purposes, safety and the security of TfGM assets.
  • Identification and initiation of appropriate interventions or actions when required.
  • Control room background/skills – from any kind of control room e.g. utility type company, emergency control rooms etc.
  • Ideally would like candidates with SIA - Security Industry Accreditation – SIA specifically for CCTV, monitoring, capturing people – this is due to them being able to understand the legal framework for CCTV (Ideally we don't want door supervision SIA accreditation/bouncers with SIA as it’s the wrong skills set for this role).
  • They will be required to pass a DBS test but can work under supervision whilst the DBS results are awaited. They must pass a DBS check as they will be working in a multiagency control room with a police presence and can hear sensitive/confidential information. All the staff in the control room are DBS checked.
  • It would be great to have someone with some knowledge of a CCTV systems (as the ideal candidate will need to be able to get up running).
  • Quite a Fluid environment in Control Room, not a lot of structure in the sense of teams and shared capacity etc so need someone who knows what they’re doing as a CCO/CCSO.
  • CCTV – experience and use of CCTV systems (doesn’t matter which type – we will train them on ours) which means they should know how to use CCTV i.e. what it can and can’t be used for/be familiar with the legal framework around using CCTV i.e. GDPR/Information Governance/processing CCTV downloads.
  • Ideally, some network knowledge of the GM transport/Highways network.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have previous Control Centre Support Officer experience.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public / clients, and other members of staff including managers.
  • Valid SIA Badge / CCTV Licence, and a Valid Standard DBS on the update service
  • Strong IT Skills / CCTV Monitoring skills / Call Handling / Incident Management
  • Full Time 35 – 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday either 8.00am – 16.00pm or 9.00am – 17.00pm
