About the role

This is an exciting time to be joining our team based in Portsmouth and being involved in supporting the port activities as a moorer. You will be required to assist with the mooring and unmooring of vessels within Portsmouth Port.

This is a flexible opportunity and you may be requested to work day, evening and weekend shifts.

Your daily responsibilities will consist of:

* Mooring and unmooring of vessels within the Portsmouth Port.

* Linkspan duties.

* Associated cleaning duties between the vessel movements.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

* Be at least 18 years old (for insurance purposes).

* Able to work with a considerable amount of lifting and hauling of heavy mooring lines.

* Able to swim.

* Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

* Adaptable due to the changing hours and schedules.

* Able to work as part of a team.

* Previous seamanship or maritime experience desirable.

* Previous mooring experience would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

Successful candidates will be expected to undergo full training specific to the Port and will undergo on the job training until deemed capable by the Berthing Masters - Training is paid at £12.89 per hour inclusive of paid annual leave accrual. They will be subject to Identification checks and referencing checks.
