At the same time the energy transition is creating significant opportunities to support clients in the development and evolution of conventional power, oil & gas and mining & commodities assets, and the firm intends to be at the forefront of these developments to maintain their market-leading position. With the launch of a new five-year strategy, the role holder will be joining the team at an exciting time and will be crucial in shaping the London Energy team’s business development focus. You will work closely with energy BD professionals based in London as well as the broader Global Business Development and Communications team. You will serve as a mentor, sounding board and role model for junior members of the team and contribute to overall team planning, development and culture. Staying well-informed and engaged on the latest industry developments and market trends, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for drafting the annual business development and marketing plan aligned to the global sector strategy and managing and monitoring the application of the BD budget in relation to sector spend, ensuring it is used to deliver ROI. You will contribute to the development of long-term profitable relationships by supporting partners in the management of client relationships, including identifying opportunities, and will project manage Energy sector pitch opportunities from start to finish, including preparation of strategic pitch documentation from credentials and transactional opportunities through to panels, coaching teams ahead of presentations and securing client feedback to assess quality and value. On the marketing side, you will identify and execute profile raising activities and initiatives to develop market position matched to business strategy through appropriate digital channels, events, conferences, directories, awards, partnerships and league tables, and will need to champion internal communication of key business development-related news and activities as well as best practice relevant to key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be hard-working and ambitious with a strong interest in, and knowledge of, the Energy sector, allied to proven business development and marketing experience gained whilst working in a professional services environment to include experience of managing and growing existing and new client relationships. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong ability to work effectively with and influence key stakeholders. It is essential that the Business Development Manager enjoys working under pressure to manage multiple projects running in parallel with tight deadlines.
