Our client who are one of the UK's largest and most successful Surface & Highways Companies are looking for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor in Ipswich. This opportunity to work for a close knit, young team, that will lead to studying towards a degree at university which will be sponsored by the company as well as a generous salary up to £28,000 and a great benefit package.

The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will be working on arrange of projects such as Highways, Retail, Rail, Aviation, Commercial and Defence. The candidate will have a good commercial awareness and understand the implications of decisions on the financial objectives and value of the company. The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will have the ability to work under pressure and manage high volume workflows, whilst maintaining extremely high levels of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.

Trainee Quantity Surveyor Job Overview

Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors.
Application of Lean principles. Overseeing the project life cycle from inception to completion and ensuring due regards to health, safety and the perception of the company to our clients and staff
Working as a Subcontractor on projects
Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors
Carrying out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales
Producing timely cost/value reports that monitor the financial progress of contracts
Manage and comply with all Health and Safety requirements

Trainee Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements

T-Level or HNC, HND within a construction related discipline
Excellent numeracy skills
Excellent IT skills with competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Previous experience in the construction / highways industry environment
Willing to undertake a course towards a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification
Understand the implications of decisions on the financial objectives and value of the company
Full UK driving licence
Commercial Awareness
