English Teacher (Maternity Cover) - 1-Year Contract
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a successful English department for a 1-year maternity cover, starting in January. The role is at one of the best Independent schools in Guildford.
This is an exciting opportunity to teach KS3, GCSE, and A Level English, making a significant impact on student learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach English to students at KS3, GCSE, and A Level.
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons following the departmental scheme of work.
- Use student data to set realistic and challenging academic targets.
- Provide regular feedback and appropriate homework to foster student progress.
- Support the needs of individual students, including SEN, with differentiated instruction.
- Participate in extra-curricular English-related activities such as book clubs, theatre trips, or creative writing workshops.
Person Specification:
- Undergraduate degree in English or a related field, with a PGCE or equivalent qualification.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent is required.
- Experience teaching A Level English is desirable.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
- Willingness to engage in the broader school community and contribute to the English department's extra-curricular offerings.
