Big Ant are supporting our valued client in finding that right candidate for their Contracts & Development Engineer role in the Highways Service department.

Key purpose for this role is to deliver an effective, efficient and professional service that as a minimum, meets the national local performance targets and delivers high quality outcomes for Torbay and its residents.

The right person will be assisting in the delivery and management of the Highways contracts and Engineering function in order to provide an effective service.

Key duties

* Act as lead office for the undertaking of tendering procedures, contract arrangements and general procurement in accordance with council polices, standing orders and National guidelines.

* Project Manager all improvement highway schemes.

* Preparation of contract documents .

* To lead on contractual negotiations and conflicts of up to and over £1mi contracts.

* Providing technical advice and management of works

* Carrying out safety audits

* Ability to effectively price work and provide quotations

* Effective organisational skills

* Ability to formulate and present data to support evidence led decision making.

Qualifications needed

* Qualified to HND/HNC level (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

* Professional Qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Highways or Transportation.

* Membership of relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT, IHE or equivalent), Incorporated Engineer or equivalent.

* Evidence of continued professional development

* Full Drivers Licence
