Join Belcan Workforce Solutions as a Principal Mechanical Process Engineer for a leading UK construction and regeneration group. This 6-month contract role is based in Manchester, with a strong likelihood of extension. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring one day per week in the office. Responsibilities

Serve as the mechanical lead on a large nuclear fuel reprocessing project.
Produce mechanical engineering design deliverables, including calculations, datasheets, specifications, and schedules.
Contribute to safety reviews and risk assessments.
Ensure mechanical deliverables meet quality and compliance standards, project brief, and customer requirements.
Review vendor quotations and liaise with equipment and package vendors.
Specify, design, and evaluate the capacity of utility systems.
Check piping design documents, including isometrics and layout drawings.
Assist in plant layout development.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design team members to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.

Accountabilities

Adhere to programme schedules, fixed work-hour budgets, and tight deadlines.
Ensure designs comply with regulatory and best practice standards for mechanical engineering.
Liaise directly with the client and represent client professionally.
Manage the technical workload of a mechanical team (potentially 2-4 engineers).

Requirements

Essential

Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Significant experience in the nuclear sector.
Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams.

Desirable

Chartered Engineer Status.
Experience in nuclear fuel reprocessing.
Ownership, innovation, initiative, and a drive for client satisfaction.
