Assistant Manager

Manchester City Centre (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from home)

Up to £40,000 DOE

Butler Rose are pleased to be working with a well-established firm in Manchester city centre, who are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant or Assistant Manager to join their team as an Assistant Manager.

This will be a hands on role, working on some of the more complex clients, along with reviewing and training of a small team underneath you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse portfolio of clients, focusing primarily on statutory accounts and corporation tax for limited companies, typically SME business work.
  • Client management for a variety of businesses, offering a mix of complexity and challenge
  • Reviewing statutory accounts and tax work prepared by junior team members before Partner sign-off
  • Supporting and developing two junior members in the team
  • Involvement in more complex client work, with a mix of both 'hands-on' and review responsibilities, reporting to Senior Manager and Partner as appropriate

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong Accounts and Tax Senior or Assistant Manager with experience in statutory accounts and corporation tax
  • Comfortable working on SME business matters such as shareholder/director tax planning
  • Ideally confident in shareholder and director tax areas (benefits in kind, director's loans, dividend planning, income extraction, pension planning)
  • Some exposure to VAT, personal tax, and related areas preferred
  • Confident in training and reviewing the work of junior staff
  • Ideally qualified or close to being qualified. Would consider QBE with a strong practice background.
