Our client is seeking a Principal Planning Officer on an initial 4-month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Start Date: ASAP, 4 Month Contract

Pay Rate: £49.00 Per Hour PAYE

Location: GU2 4BB

Working Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, 09:00 - 17:30

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a very experienced individual to be a case officer for one of the Borough Strategic sites allocated for approximately 1,800 homes, as well as retail and commercial floor space. The applicant has indicated that they intend to submit this application in late 2024.

The post would suit either someone who has a strong track record of dealing with major development schemes or has proven experience in delivering large-scale development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of this project working closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

We are looking for an individual who has significant experience in dealing with development of this scale. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they also have appropriate experience in dealing with Public Inquiries, negotiating on large-scale development and the experience and ability to shape a scheme to ensure that quality development, together with supporting infrastructure, is delivered on this important site. Given the importance of this site to the borough the role will report to the Assistant Director.

Skills and Experience:

MRTPI qualification.
Significant experience working on large-scale residential development preferably in development management.
Strong teamwork skills.
Builds relationships.
Experience of Public Inquiries
Excellent project management and organisation skills.
High-level communication and presentation skills including clear, concise reporting and correspondence particularly concerning complex or controversial issues.
The ability to communicate with people of different social, economic and professional backgrounds.
Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Attendance at evening and other out of hours meetings and events when required.
