We're supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in Telford, who are looking for a Project Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Project Engineer will have experience of assembly automation, advanced machining or tooling with an automotive company.

Position Overview: As a Project Engineer, you'll oversee projects being executed and will support the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. They will plan and schedule the execution of projects, maximising internal resources and effectively managing external vendors.

This role will report to the Engineering Manager. The position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, the ability to drive continuous improvement and optimise workflows to meet project deadlines and objectives.

As a Team player you will foster a positive workplace culture, develop and execute KPI's, maintain a continuous improvement mindset while implementing industry 4.0 initiatives.

Responsibilities for Project Engineer:

* Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, including task dependencies, resource allocation, and critical path analysis, to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.

* Plan the allocation of work, create capacity plans, liaise with other departments, create timing plans, and empower the team.

* Coordinate daily build activities with the Operations Lead, including contractors and Management.

* Follow up jobs through build, qualification, integration, runoff, and installation.

* Process engineering changes and address material issues.

* Initiate material requests for special or missing items.

* Support coordination and implementation of engineering changes.

* Support and work with project managers on job and manpower planning.

* Track and communicate on-site technical issues with engineering and project management to resolve and close open issues.

* Report schedule and budget status at manufacturing line side meetings.

* Report percentage complete status on a daily basis per project.

* Identify upcoming roadblocks and provide forward planning to meet overall schedule requirements.

* Advise in prioritizing workstreams aligned with customer expectations.

* Adhere to the published statement of work and notify the project manager or engineering manager about any opportunities for improvements and/or risks identified.

* Read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD, and identify any inconsistencies.

* Foster a positive culture and work environment conducive to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

* Develop and lead strong KPIs with performance measurables, regularly reviewed with the team.

* Focus on Industry 4.0 initiatives to optimize efficiency and productivity.

* Support the development and preparation of commercial and technical offers that comply with the customer´s request

* Support in responding effectively to customer requests for modifications and revalidations of issued offers.

About You:

* Flexibility to travel within Europe and beyond

* Effective communicator both written and verbal in English

* Eligibility to work in the UK

* Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma/ Certificate of Qualification and/ or applicable work experience

* Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD and Visual Manufacturing System

* Previous experience of Assembly Automation/ Advanced Machining/ Tooling with an automotive company

* Previous experience with the manufacture of assembly cells (Desirable)

* Project management qualification (Desirable)

* 2 years relevant work experience in automotive/ manufacturing (Desirable)

* Implementation of industry 4.0 initiatives (Desirable)
