British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processers in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. An exciting opportunity has arisen following an internal move to lead the UK Seed Account within British Sugar's Agriculture department. Focus will be on seed procurement and distribution as part of the industry's joint Seed Working Group, in close collaboration with NFU Sugar, Germains, BBRO, seed breeders, and wider stakeholders across the industry. This role will be responsible for delivering the transformation of the UK Beet Seed Sector as part of the Field to Factory Experience initiative within our Strengthen Grower Partnerships Must Win Battle. We encourage applications from a procurement/commercial background, agriculture experience is not essential for this role.

Key Accountabilities include:

Seed

Analyse variety performance data and recommend appropriate actions to optimise national yield.
Work in partnership with NFU Sugar (Seed Working Group), responsible for ensuring the most appropriate varieties are available in the right volumes to satisfy the requirements of the UK sugar industry.
Responsible for seed negotiation round with the seed breeders and Seed Working Group, including pricing.
Hold position on the Recommended List project board to represent British Sugar interests.
Drive yield devolvement from seed technology (pelleting and pesticides).
Responsible for seed distribution and seed complaint process.
Responsible for ensuring all specifications and contractor terms and conditions are maintained within specification throughout the year.
Deliver budget expectations, in line with forecast.

Educated to Degree level
Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders and suppliers
Commercial experience, with application of discretion for sensitive information
Experience in project management and procurement
Strong focus on attention to detail, conscientiousness, and planning ability
