We’re looking for a Decarbonisation Manager to join our Heat Networks team. This role has a flexible base location at Nottingham, Coventry or London. Involving regular travel to UK/International sites.

At E.ON’s Energy Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) Heat Networks (HN) division, we are committed to leading the transition to low-carbon energy solutions across the UK. Our mission is to develop and deliver decarbonisation programmes that will transform our portfolio of heat and power generation schemes. As the Decarbonisation Manager within the Heat Networks business, you’ll play a critical role in shaping initial feasibility studies and completing risk evaluations to secure funding whilst overseeing the technical design. This includes creating detailed business cases from concept to delivery ensuring every project is commercially viable and aligned to the latest environmental standards.

Additionally, the role supports the wider EIS team, focusing on sharing and delivering decarbonised solutions across our international portfolio, ensuring our approach is both scalable and impactful across all markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with internal and external senior stakeholders including government bodies, regulators, and blue-chip companies to drive the decarbonisation agenda. You will also participate and influence in policy discussions to shape future legislation.
  • Collaborate with the EIS leadership team to deliver decarbonisation projects across multiple sites and identify funding opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver commercially viable decarbonisation solutions for assets and heat network schemes.
  • Lead negotiations with internal and external stakeholders to achieve decarbonisation goals.
  • Identify expansion opportunities alongside the Heat Network Sales & Heat Zoning teams to deliver decarbonisation whilst delivering growth opportunities for existing schemes.
  • Manage risks and opportunities associated with decarbonisation projects and identify innovative processes for successful project delivery.
  • Develop and lead cross-team projects to deliver major decarbonisation strategies and funding.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience in leading significant projects within district heating or energy asset sectors with a strong strategic, decarbonisation, construction, commercial and operational perspective.
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities, with the capacity to manage senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Solid understanding of government net zero strategies and policies, future legislation (including Part L), with knowledge of current and future funding opportunities.
  • Experience with the financial aspects of large-scale projects, including budget management.
