Our client are specialists in their market sector. They are looking to recruit an experienced Materials Buyer on a permanent basis.

The Job you'll do

* As a Materials Buyer, you will be responsible for controlling the purchasing function to minimise stock and ensure procurement is conducted with maximum commercial advantage for all project procurement spend. Y

* You will be expected to ensure the efficient utilisation of material resource planning (MRP) scheduled dates to deliver effective production planning and control of the materials and bought out components (BOC's) to the point of use.

* Ensure continuous raw material supply to the site to achieve production demands, maintaining min / max stock targets in parallel with supplier lead times.

* Raise purchase orders for regular stock items, non-direct material and sub-contracting.

* Maintain clear visibility of purchase order status; identifying potential late deliveries and taking action to mitigate them, expediting daily.

* Investigate and resolve delivery discrepancies, communicating closely with suppliers to root cause issues for resolution.

* Work closely with overseas and long lead-time supply base.

* Maintain stock level values in line with set targets with regular analysis of targets vs actual.

* Support with analysis of purchase price variations.

* Ensure prices paid for goods and services are in line with expectation; challenging and negotiating when required.

* Support the movement of sub-contract material as well as the negotiation of sub-contract pricing.

* Deal with supplier invoice queries, implementing measures and corrective action to prevent recurrence.

* Support with maintaining supplier agreements with critical suppliers, focusing on fixed pricing, vendor managed inventories and capacity allocation, including yearly tendering and price list creation.

* Support with supplier audits and visits.

* Control, issue and receive supplier status reports and maintain key performance indicators (KPI's).

* Instigate and implement cost saving activities.

* Involvement with N.C.R to ensure the correct process is followed.

* Involvement in new product introduction and new product transfers in parallel with excellent housekeeping of the enterprise resource system (ERP), ensuring the correct prices, lead times, order levels and supplier details are maintained.

* Active participation at production meetings.

About You

* To apply, we ask that you are an experienced Materials Buyer with experience working within Supply Chain in an engineering/manufacturing environment with proven ability generating positive change and delivering against targets.

* We are looking for someone who has excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and resolve conflicting situations.

* You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the business and with a multi-cultural supplier base.

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP systems is essential.

* This position will be on a full time, permanent basis, and working day shift hours of 38.75 per week.
