Technical Waste Assessor

Our client is a leading UK waste management company. A vacancy currently exists for a Technical Waste Assessor to work at the company's hazardous waste transfer station in Kent.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure that all incoming and outgoing waste is correctly classified and that an auditable trail of records is maintained according to site procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

* Follow site pre-acceptance, acceptance, sampling and compatibility procedures according to WM3 to technically assess waste enquiries. Ensure sufficient information is supplied, including samples where required.

* Ensure all information required for quoting, transport and acceptance is logged on to the system.

* Understand site processing capabilities to enable routing of waste.

* Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits and waste management licences.

* Liaise closely with the Central Customer Services, Sales and Operational functions to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

* Ensure pre-acceptance information is complete and available at time of acceptance, including plant and route.

* Advise on transport, labelling and consignment note requirements.

* Assist with the maintenance and control of the site management systems including document control, preparation of data and attending reviews where necessary.

* Check loads notes and ensure offsite wastes have been priced accordingly. Inform sales of non-conformances and communicate reasons for surcharges or rejections.

Essential Requirements:

* Degree in Chemistry/COTC TMS4 or validated analytical experience.

* Knowledge of waste related legislation including Hazardous Waste Regulations, PPC, Landfill Directive and ADR.

* Understand how to classify hazardous waste for disposal & transport.

* Excellent organisation and communication skills.

* Numerate with an understanding of business costing.

* Profit and service focused.

* Good problem-solving skills.

Desirable Qualities:

* Working knowledge of the operation of Waste Treatment Processing Plant.

* Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

* Working knowledge of internal and external documentation requirements.

* Experience of Salesforce or similar CRM system.

This is a permanent, full-time, office-based role, Mon - Fri.
