About the opportunity:
As Group Reporting Accountant you will be a key member of the Finance Team, taking a leading role on complex accounting, shaping the agenda and framework for Financial Reporting and Tax compliance across the Group.
The role will entail group reporting, statutory reporting and assisting with the audit process, involvement in preparation of statutory accounts, monthly management accounts, business partnering with the marketing team, implementation and maintaining of financial processes, as well as assisting with treasury and tax compliance.
Reporting into the Group Reporting Manager, you will interact with the broader management accounting team to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and adherence to financial controls across the group. This role works closely with other areas of Finance, including Accounts Payable and restaurant-level Management Accounts.
What you'll do:
- Production of timely, accurate Advertising Fund management reports including variance analysis against budgets, month end accruals, as well as providing detailed commentary to senior management on a monthly basis.
- Preparation of annual budgets for AdFund, including business partnering with marketing to arrive at accurate annual budgets and quarterly budgets reforecasts.
- Preparation of regular cashflow forecasts to assist with AdFund working capital management.
- Preparation of statutory accounts for group companies.
- Assisting with the year end audit process, providing supporting information and answering queries.
- Acting as technical accounting standards specialist for the group, taking a leading role on complex accounting / financial reporting issues - identify the correct accounting treatment and working with other stakeholders to agree and implement it with a particular focus on IFRS 16 accounting.
- Driving the continual development of the financial close control environment.
- Ensuring controls and financial processes are effective, reconciliations are maintained and provide feedback to enhance the process, as well as identification of any risks and opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting and finance standards, best practices, and government regulations.
- Preparation of regulatory and tax filings (completing quarterly VAT returns, year-end Capital Allowances analysis, PSA calculation and submission, Gender Pay Gap Reporting).
- Liaising with external Corporation Tax advisors in order to achieve timely completion of tax provisions and submission of tax computations.
- Reviewing and calculation of taxes (Corporation Tax and Deferred tax, PSA etc).
- Preparation of quarterly fixed asset reconciliations.
- Ensuring compliance with tax requirements around payment and reporting.
You will have: - Be a Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS) ideally from a big 4 background (or other top tier accounting firm background).
- Statutory Audit experience or statutory accounts preparation experience is essential.
- Experience with complex accounting standards, particularly IFRS 16.
- Tax experience would be a real advantage but not required.
- You will have experience in testing, performing or reviewing financial controls and processes.
- Have proficient IT skills with advanced excel skills including Pivots and advanced formulas.
- Have keen attention to detail and desire to probe further into data.
- You are a confident and pro-active communicator with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial staff.
- You are a conscientious self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative and able to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, changing/growing environment.
- You have a keenness to learn and understand the business and to add value by using financial analysis to assist in driving performance.
