A secondary school in Merton is seeking a special needs assistant to join the team.

This role starts in November, after half term and is initially until Christmas and that period will be used as a trial. If things go well, the role will continue for the rest of the academic year.

The School

The school has an experienced and established senior leadership team and the school has a vibrant, busy atmosphere. The school is well regarded locally and were graded as "Outstanding" after their most recent Ofsted inspection.

The school has good public transport links, located close to a mainline rail station.

The Role

The vacancy is for a special needs assistant to work with a variety of students with a range of special needs, many of whom have challenging behaviour and Autism.

You will be working together on developing social skills in the classroom and at breaktime as well as working in class, supporting behaviour.

The school is looking for a reliable, engaging role model who can offer strategies and approaches to help students deal with situations that they find challenging.

To be considered for this special needs assistant role, you will need to have previous experience of working with children with special needs, especially pupils with Autism.

The school likes to integrate support staff fully into the team and they may have some mainstream TA work included as part of the role and some lunch duties too.

The salary for this special needs assistant role will be £90-95 per day, Monday to Friday, term time only and the school are looking to trial prospective candidates as soon as possible. The hours are 8am - 4.00pm.
