Job Purpose:

Work within a team of Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis Simulation Engineers, deliver simulations supporting gateways and the virtual DVPs, strive to advance the simulations capability and improve the DVP efficiency and robustness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the virtual vehicle development process in accordance with the vehicle development process ensuring a high level of documentation and reporting.
  • Deploy the target cascade to engineering specification process for control systems & ADAS delivery.
  • Coordinate multi-body & 1D simulation activities across the team for vehicle programme/platform to meet the Design Validation Plan gateways according to the Virtual Validation Plan for an assigned programme/platform.
  • Collaborate with the control groups to create and develop control system algorithms in conjunction with SW & HW suppliers.
  • Investigate controls & ADAS issues arising during development.
  • Develop, maintain, and advance the controls & ADAS simulation processes and procedures.
  • Conduct model correlation activities including definition of test requirements, sensors, and data acquisition instrumentation.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Proven experience in multi-body simulation within the automotive/motorsport industry.
  • Proven experience in either ADAS’ or control system for motion control/chassis controls’ virtual development and validation.
  • Proven experience in simultaneous simulation (co-simulation), multi-physics model integration, and simulation automation.
  • Experience in developing tools for data post-processing and analysis.
  • Experience in model condensation, compilation, and execution for real time application.
  • Experience in chassis systems virtual development process and correlation against testing data.
  • Experience in virtual validation planning, budgeting, coordination, and tracking.
  • Experience in ADAS and vehicle dynamics control calibration (in simulation or on vehicle).
  • Initial experience with Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) technology for vehicle development.
  • Initial experience in chassis systems virtual development and validation.
  • Experience in handling, longitudinal performances, and ride comfort control systems development
  • Experience in functional safety virtual assessment.
  • MSc in relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, etc.).
  • Proficiency in usage of MATLAB/Simulink for simulation, data analysis, and optimisation.
  • PhD in relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of control systems for vehicle dynamics.
  • Proficiency in the usage of ADAMS/Car and VI-CarRealTime.
