Plant Engineer (Forge)The client is a world leader in the production of titanium for a rapidly growing Fortune 500 company, operating in the engineering and manufacturing sector, predominantly making materials for the aerospace and power generation industries.The Birmingham operation now have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Engineer/ Forge to join the team.Job Purpose:The Plant Engineer is responsible for the Plant Availability, reliability and effectiveness of plant. This includes recognising future improvements and Maintenance requirements and the day to day reliability of aspects of equipment.Essential Functions:
• Ensure that Plant is running safely and effectively.
• Ensure sufficient Plans in Place to ensure future Reliability of Plant.
• Investigate and reduce recurring Plant issues to maximise up-time.
• Analysis of Engineering based non standards.
• Complete regular reviews of PPM.
• Ensure safe working through Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS).
• Implement plant and process improvements.
• Control and Understand Engineering spend.
• Ensure sufficient spares to minimise downtime.
• Engagement & control of Contractors.
• Understand and comply with Environmental and safety legislation.
• Liaise closely with Maintenance and Operations to maximise opportunities during Plant downtime.
• Identify Cost savings through Plant improvement and Energy savings.Education/ Qualification/ Experience:
• Degree/HNC preferred or equivalent proficiency essential.
• Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant Industry.
• IOSH Certified is preferable.Organisation Skills:
• Demonstrate Fault finding and Analytical ability.
• Able to coach Maintenance Staff as required on technical Issues.
• Ability to identify and plan work to avoid unplanned production outages.
• Ability to communicate at a technical level with Peers and external experts.
• Be able to produce technical reports on dangerous occurrences an Plant Incidents.
• Manage Purchase orders and payment authorisation.Technical Skills:
• A sound understanding of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of Forging Press operations.
• Knowledge of Reheat furnaces refractors and controls.
• Cranes and Lifting Equipment.
• A knowledge of Civil and Building Engineering preferred.
• Be capable of developing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Redesign equipment and implement modern Engineering systems/solutions.Company Benefits:
