About the Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Camden, London. This full-time role involves working closely with a child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), supporting their learning and emotional development in a classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a child with ASD, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.
  • Implement and follow individualised learning plans, providing tailored support in various subjects.
  • Promote positive behaviour and communication, using strategies appropriate for the child's needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons and activities.
  • Help with the child's personal care, if required, and ensure their well-being throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, including SENCO, to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, and provide feedback to the teacher and parents as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with ASD.
  • Patience, understanding, and a positive approach to working with children with additional learning needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to supporting the child's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • A DBS check will be required (if not already held).

Desirable:

  • A qualification or training in working with children with ASD or other special needs (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Team Teach, or similar).
  • Experience in a primary school setting.
