Job Title: Trackside Strategy Engineer

Location: Northamptonshire, UK
Reports To: Director of Engineering or Designee
Position Overview:
The Trackside Strategy Support Engineer is a critical role, responsible for providing strategic support at all FIA Formula 1 Championship races and select test events. The position involves close collaboration with various departments to enhance team performance, making data-driven decisions under high-pressure conditions.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Collaboration & Communication:
Foster teamwork and effective communication across all personnel and departments to ensure seamless operations.

Event Support:
Provide strategic support during all FIA Formula 1 Championship races and test events, either trackside or from the Factory Race Support Room.

Data-Driven Decision Making:
Utilize data analysis to inform race strategy, including tyre usage and fuel management, during pre-event simulations, in-event support, and post-race analysis.

Tool Development:
Contribute to the development and improvement of live and interactive tools used in race strategy operations.

Competitor Analysis:
Conduct competitor analysis to support race strategies and other departmental functions as needed.

Vehicle & Tyre Performance:
Apply technical knowledge of vehicle and tyre performance to optimize race outcomes.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Academic Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in a STEM discipline.

Professional Experience:
Minimum of 4 years' experience in the Formula 1 motorsport environment, with a focus on strategy.
Proficient in data analysis, numerical, and statistical methodologies.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

Technical Proficiency:
Expertise in Python, VBA, MATLAB, and C# programming.
Experience with databases, including creation and management, and data analysis using MAT ATLAS.
Analytical & Decision-Making Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and the ability to make quick, data-driven decisions under pressure.
Teamwork & Communication:
Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in a collaborative environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, maintaining a methodical approach.
Extensive international travel may be required, with flexibility to work long hours, including weekends.
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity.
The work environment involves exposure to machinery, race cars, rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
Compliance with the company's Health and Safety Policy and all relevant statutory regulations is mandatory.
