Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join SEMH provisions, we currently have multiple vacancies in different schools across Hampshire. The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have behavioural and SEMH needs, providing essential support to help them thrive both academically and personally. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by offering 1:1 support, small group support, behaviour management, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

1:1 and Small Group Support: Work directly with pupils to provide tailored support that meets their individual needs, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Behaviour Support and Mentoring: Assist pupils in developing positive behaviours, social skills, and self-esteem through mentoring and consistent support.
Academic Support: Help pupils engage with the curriculum, offering support within lessons across various subjects to boost their academic achievement.
Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to implement individual education plans and behaviour management strategies.
Progress Monitoring: Track and report on pupil progress, highlighting any areas of concern to the relevant staff members.
Building Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain trusting, supportive relationships with pupils to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils at all times, following school safeguarding policies and procedures.Person Specification

Experience: Previous experience working with young people is essential. We welcome applicants from candidates with experience in schools, residential settings, care environments, and youth work.
Qualifications: Minimum GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent. Additional qualifications related to child development, mental health, or special education needs would be an advantage.
Skills and Qualities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Effective behaviour management techniques.
Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young people.
Team player who can work collaboratively with staff members and external professionals.
