Vision for Education are recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for primary and SEND school settings in Blackburn and Darwen in January 2025. The role is full-time (Monday to Friday) with pay starting from £400 per week dependent on experience.

About the role

Our client settings in Blackburn and surrounding areas are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team in January 2025. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting with the curriculum across the school.

Responsibilities:

Deliver effective and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH learning needs.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities.
Create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters academic progress, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.
Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to develop individualised Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and implement strategies for student progress.
Regularly assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
Establish strong communication channels with parents, guardians, and external professionals involved in the care and education of students with SEND.
Stay updated with the latest educational practices, policies, and developments in the field of special educational needs, integrating them into your teaching approach.

About the school

The schools are specialist, working mainly with students with SEMH and moderate SEN learning needs coming from underprivileged backgrounds and having suffered ACEs and trauma previously. 

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) you will:

HLTA Level 4 or equivalent qualification.
Specialisation or experience in teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Deep understanding of various learning difficulties, such as autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and speech and language impairments.
Strong knowledge of different teaching strategies, interventions, and resources for SEND students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with SEND.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in an ever-changing educational environment.

Salary

From £400 per week.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

A Level 4 HLTA qualification and experience supporting in a school or similar setting
