Our client is a dynamic and successful IT business based in Basingstoke who are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team.

This position is ideal for an individual with a background in accounts payable and accounts receivable who is looking for a new challenge and to enhance their expertise in accounts and finance.

Accounts Assistant - About The Role

You will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Finance team for financial and administrative tasks, with a strong emphasis on Purchase Ledger.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Process incoming invoices and credit notes, including managing supplier portals
  • Perform supplier reconciliations and maintain vendor accounts
  • Administer the company credit card process
  • Manage the expenses system, process employee expense claims, and generate expense reports
  • Process payment runs
  • Set up and update employee and vendor records in the finance system
  • Manage access, reporting, and administration for travel portals
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis as required
  • Assist with environmental reporting
  • Support audit processes
  • Assist the Finance Manager with month-end procedures and ad-hoc tasks
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post
  • Provide backup support for the credit control function during holidays or absences

The successful Accounts Assistant will have/be:

  • Previous experience in a busy finance team
  • Ideally AAT qualified or QBE
  • Intermediate level Excel skills, and experience of using ERP software
  • Good team player
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and arrange own time effectively
