Newbury based - Hybrid (3 days in office per week)

If you are looking to step into a broad accounts assistant role within a friendly, growing business then this could be a great role for you.

This business is going from strength to strength and as such has created an additional role at this level within finance to support the growth. They have a well established finance function with solid systems and work with prestigious customers across the UK.

The Role

This is a hands on Accounts Assistant role which will be reporting directly into a supportive Financial Controller and will be involved in the following:

  • Coding and posting of purchase invoices, subcontractor certificates and credit notes.
  • Check and mark the invoices as approved for payment.
  • Upload approved invoices / certificates into Sage.
  • First point of contact for supplier payment requests and queries.
  • Set up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing ones.
  • Reconciling supplier statements.
  • Processing weekly payroll, including printing, calculating & managing approvals of timesheets, logging hours in Ops system and processing wages through Sage Payroll.
  • Processing of employee expenses, company credit cards & plant returns.
  • preparing supplier payment runs.
  • Support the calculation and posting of the monthly purchase ledger posting accrual.
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly VAT returns.
  • Support and provide cover for the daily bank reconciliations and maintenance of the sales ledger.
  • Assisting with external audit queries.
  • Prepare and perform ad-hoc analysis and reports as required by the Accounts Manager & FC.
  • Adhere to existing company processes and providing constructive input on new policies and processes.

Your Profile

We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic finance professional to join a great team.

You'll need a good grasp of all aspects of AP and AP related accounting/reconciliations. There is extensive interaction with the wider business as well so being a people person is essential!

This role could suit either someone making their first step into finance after studies (ideally AAT or a finance related degree) or someone looking to take a step up from a focused AP or AR role into a more varied role.

Salary & Benefits

£26,000-£30,000 plus benefits and study support.
